Open Day is a chance for prospective students to visit the Visual Arts department, find out more about the various Graduate and Postgraduate programmes, tour the studios and facilities, as well as to meet staff and students. Information about funding support, accommodation and study options will be available.

Alumni News: Mdina Biennale 2017-2018

Recent West Dean College MFA graduate, Merna Liddawi, is currently taking part in the APS Mdina Cathedral Contemporary Art Biennale on the island of Malta. The group exhibition, ‘The Mediterranean: A Sea of Conflicting Spiritualities’, runs until 7th January 2018. Another West Dean alumnus, a graduate from the Conservation of Books and Library Materials programme, Simon Sultana Harkins (Malta), co-curated the space and was fully involved in setting up the exhibition. Alumnus Residency in Goa, India

West Dean Visual Arts alumnus, Georgia Hughes, spent part of the summer in Goa, India as part of a unique artist residency run by Vice Versa, an independent non-profit foundation that conducts workshops, seminars and residencies across a wide variety of cultural projects. From a base in a Heritage Portuguese house, which itself provided inspiration for a new series of drawings on paper, Georgia conducted wide-ranging independent research within the Goan community, including resources such as the State Library and associates of Indian fashion designer, Wendell Rodricks, at Goa College of Home Science – a place where the Kunbi saree was again being manufactured by hand as a heritage cloth and reintroduced into the Home Science educational curriculum.
